Puttur: Man held for posting offensive picture of himself with deity Deyi Baidethi

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Sep 11: A person who clicked his own photograph besides the statue of reverred deity of Tulunadu, Deyi Baidethi who is treated as divine being, in an obscene manner and posted the same in social website, was arrested by police based on complaint. The arrested man happens to be Haneef, an auto rickshaw driver residing at Ishwaramangala in the taluk.

Initiatives to beautify and develop Padumale, native place of legendary, valiant heroes of Tulunadu, Koti and Chennaya, stories of whose power, commitment to principles and fearless protection extended by them to honest people, have been undertaken of late. Forest department too contributed on its own to this effort by building a garden of medicinal herbs. This garden has been named after Deyi Baidethi, mother of Koti and Chennaya, who was an excellent practitioner of native medicines. In order to attract tourists, a small house with statue of Deyi Baidethi preparing some medicinal concoction, with statues of Koti and Chennaya adorning it, have been installed.

Keshava Poojary Bedrala, secretary of Brahmasri Narayana Guruswami BIllava Sangha, filed complaint about the misdeed of Haneef in the rural police station here. Treasurer of the Sangha, Nagesh Balnad, executive officer of Brahmasri Narayana Guruswami Mandir, R C Narayan Renja, organizing secretary of Yuvavahini centraql committee, Shashidhar Kinnimajalu, immediate past president of Yuvavahini local unit, Jayant Poojary Kengudelu etc went in a delegation to the police station and urged the police to see that the guilty face stringent punishment.

Haneef is seen in the photo by the side of the statue of Deyi Baidethi in an obscene posture. This photo was posted in social website. By Saturday night, it circulated widely through Facebook and WhatsApp. As this incident has the potential of disturbing peace in the society, all classes had condemned this act in unison and there had been demands for the arrest of the guilty.

The polie acted swiftly and arrested the accused on Sunday itself. Case under section 295 (A) of Indian Penal Code and IT Act - 2000 was registered.

A six-acre garden of medicinal herbs has been built at Mudipinadka in the name of legendary native medicines practitioner, Deyi Baidethi. In the middle of this garden, a small hut representing ancient style residence of Tulunadu has been built with statues of Deyi Baidethi, Koti and Chennaya in front. People have free access to this hut.

The delegation urged the concerned to stop misuse of the facility and restrict entry into the compound of the hut with an eye on safety of the statues. President of taluk Billava Sangha here, Jayanth Nadubail, vice president, Praveen Kumar Kedenjiguthu, and executive officer of Brahmasri Narayana Guru Mandir, R C Narayan, have urged the concerned department to appoint staff and ensure that safety measures are in place to avoid recurrence of the incidents of the above kind.

Sick minded person. Everybody should stop insulting own religion or other religion. Clerics, writers, intelectuals, communals all should stop writing against any religion. Keep the religion totally out from the discourse and politics. Following any faith is their own choice but public life should not be disturbed in the name of religion.

when you look at the communal pattern of DK and Udupi district, only poor and some time uneducated people has been targeted by the BD,HJV,Ramasene, RSS, KFD, PFI etc. these category people like small scale fruits/vegetable seller, flower vendors, rickshaw/tempo drivers, laundry guys, cycle and puncture shop guys, petty shop owners etc are the bali ka bakra for these organisations and they are provoked and killed by both sides for their political gain or monetary gains. May be this guy also has been brainwashed where as 92% of muslims live in peace and harmony with hindus and Christians and same 92% or more percentage of Hindus are living cordially with other religious people. Its a wake-up call for all the intellectual people of DK and Udupi to read this pattern carefully and demoralise such plan by bringing awareness among people other wise days are not far these brainwashed boys may be our sons and enter our house and destroy our beautiful society and our mother land.

Ahmed bhai, we do not want to know what is written in the book. We want to know whether he was taught / guided properly ? if not community people should go back ask the leader why this happend and who is responsible for it ? you can always amend the teachings for the well being of society. This advice is for all religions and not for any one community.

First I thought maybe is an outsider…. But being a local person he might be aware of Deyi Baidethi, mother of Koti and Chennaya…. He done this knowingly means its insult to our religion…. No doubt he pays heavy price throughout his life for this kind of insult but I am looking for those people who made much hue & cry by accusing one such Police Officer for holy book mishandling but when their one such stupid community member makes great mistake in deed….they speak nothing!!!!

But, at the same time, I wish if someone could inform the public, what has happened to the case/FIR related to MP, who tried to play with the haony of Dust, in recently organised rally?
