Mangaluru: Protestors demand withdrawal of case against MP Nalin within 24 hours

Mohan Kuthar
Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Sep 8: Soon after news broke about police filing an FIR against BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, activists of Kurnadu Shakti Kendra staged a protest at Mudipu junction here on the night of Friday September 8, demanding the withdrawal of the case within 24 hours.

Addressing the protest, president of Kurnadu Shakti Kendra Naveen Padalpady who is also a taluk panchayat member said, "The case filed against MP Nalin Kumar Kateel should be withdrawn within 24 hours, if not, we will launch a strong protest.

"The situation in the state is worse than emergency. People are spending sleepless nights. Bihar-like situation has come to exist in Karnataka too. The state government is not even allowing an appeal to be submitted to the deputy commissioner.

"District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai and food minister U T Khader should immediately resign for filing a case against a member of the Parliament who just spoke in favour of his party workers," Padalpady demanded, adding, "If the case is not withdrawn, we will stage a strong protest tomorrow (Saturday September 9) evening."

Kurnadu Shakti Kendra general secretary Lohith V Gatty said, "The state government itself disrupted peace by banning the 'Mangaluru Chalo' rally which was going on peacefully. Nalin Kumar Kateel questioned Kadri inspector Maruthi Nayak for rounding up women party workers who had come from outside the district and forcibly locking them up in a hall where children were having lunch. Slapping of case against an MP for questioning such harassment indicates the kind of policy followed by the state government."

Businessman Jagadish Alva said, "During elections, some of the SDPI and Bajrang Dal activists become Congress workers. When Sajipa Muda zilla panchayat member was elected, Bajrang Dal activists themselves hoisted the Congress flag. The Congress government uses such people to commit murders of innocents and create communal disharmony. Jaleel Karopady's murder was also committed by people within the Congress. The fact that district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai has never spoken about Karopady's murder in public is testifies this."

BJP Minority Morcha general secretary Mohammed Asgar Mudipu, Premananda Nettilapadavu of Raita Morcha Mangaluru, Yuva Morcha vice-president Naveen Shetty Kodakkal and many others were present.

The picture shows the protester in a very bad shape, from the look at their face it seems they have not eaten for days, hope that useless MP, and blind bhakts take note of it and feed the protestors before the collapse.

Ek to chori ooper se seena zori.

Shame on you bjp & sanghis!

What can we expect from a leader who has no respect towards a duty officer?

The officer was speechless when he was shouting. Let us assume the situation other way round, - the police officer takes action against this MP while he was abusing him! Just imagine the goonda followers of this lawmaker would have made the scene even worse! Is this democracy?

Majority of .Nalin's critics are either from chor kai party or their sympathisers or minority community, sympathisers of sdpi, kfd etc.,
Fact if the matter is Nalin is the undisputed leader from BJP for Mangalore seat.Nobody can dislodge him in contesting against him.He may be illiterate, useless or non performer ...but he is indispensable for Kudla. All youngsters are with him .......Simply writting non sense about him does not serve the purpose. Please try to defeat him in next election by searching a suitable candidate from Kai party now itself.....

Jeevan, your party created battle field with vested interest. Your humiliation is self inflicted! Now shamelessly dhamki to withdraw FIR. Man suppose to install peace is destroying it by terrorizing police who are tirelessly working to maintain peace, law and order! According to most people Nalin deserve punishment for obstructing government officials trying to maintain peace and normalcy. BJP people from statewide came to Mangalore to destroy peace here while most people of Mangalore remained indoor! Who will pay for two days of productivity loss? My request to BJP is, please eave DK alone and let the jobless go to other district with their attitude to learn a lesson of their life time. After a limit no voter will support any political party that is going to hinder their regular life. Most politicians of any party has a motive for power and money...be it BJP or Congress. BJP made it too much in Mangalore this week!

Sagar Surat, its because its Mangalore which is inside Karnataka state - law and order is still alive - its not Surat-Gujarat ! We mangaloreans are educated - the standard of education is the best here and our police department is not corrupt like other states. I agree that some people (outsiders) are trying hard to spoil the peace and harmony here.

India does not have Royals. We are a democracy with equal rights. Every person, rich or poor, MP or the person who elect the MP are equal under the Law. MP Nalin should be treated by the police and court just like accused common man. No special treatment by the police to MP. MLA or ministers.
