Mangaluru, Jun 13: BJP Mangaluru North block on Tuesday June 13 staged a protest opposite zilla panchayath here against MLA Mohiuddin Bava over the issue of his distributing notebooks with his pictures on them to students in his constituency allegedly to gain political mileage. The protestors demanded that Bava take back the books.

Addressing the protestors, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel condemned Bava's action and said, "I am not blaming Bava for distributing books to the students but the intention behind distributing the books is totally condemnable. Congress has reached a new low level by playing petty politics in education too.

"Bava distributed the notebooks with his pictures on them to infleunce the students and their parents politically. During the past 4 years of his tenure, he did not donate any books to the students, but now that elections are inching closer, he has misused his power and also misused the school in his constituency to gain political mileage. He is indirectly using school children to campaign in a bid to retain his Assembly seat. This act is against the law and I urge him to take back the distributed books which carry his pictures. If Bava donates books with a good intention without any propaganda, I will come forward and garland him."

BJP Mangaluru North block president Bharath Shetty alleged that Bava that has misused his powers to gain political mileage by distributing free books with his pictures to students.

BJP leader Ganesh Hosabettu said, "Bava has misused school children for his own political benefits and we demand stringent action against the MLA. There are a lot of pending development works in his constituency, but instead of completing them, he is busy doing unwanted things for political mileage. There is no proper drainage facility in 9 wards of the MLA's constituency. He also promised to donate books, bags and umbrellas in the coming years. Let him say whose money he is spending to distribute books, bags and umbrellas,"

BJP leaders Janardhana Gowda, Rama Amin, Prakash, Satyajith Suratkal, Pooja Prashanth Pai, Tilak Raj, Rajesh Konchady and others were present.

On his birthday recently, Mohiuddin Bava distributed notebooks to children carrying his images and publicity material. After facing flak for using school supplies as propaganda, Bava on Monday June 12 had defended his action saying that he had distributed the notebooks to children for their 'knowledge', so they know who their MLA was. He had said that he had spent from his own pocket to distribute the books.

This is the main reason why India is lacking from development.. Our politics parties are just to take part in protest from one side the other.. Never will digest or support for the development made by a party or individuals.... Yen janma ree nimdhu.. na thum shaanth se jeetha hai na thu kisi aur ko shaanth se jeena dhetha....

You are right Sannu, Manipal/Qatar. In Bombay BJP Govt has distributed note books to the children last year and the cover page was full with BJP political leaders pictures. No one was objected. Now why these people are feeling jealous on others? Instead of wasting their time on nonsense issues help poor children to get education. Good work Mr.Bava.

Since 25 years their MP's have FAILED TO DELIVER but manage to fool voters in the name of religion and get elected.

No politician in India are paid so much that they can distribute books with photo freely, as claimed in some of the comments " he paid from his own pocket". In politics either it's tax payers money or corruption money which makes it rounds.
Bava is a honoured minister, but he should have done the charity selflessly and not bring politics to school.
    Jai Hind.

During our school days notebooks contained pictures of eminent national leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, Sardar Patel, etc. as a means to remember and to take inspiration from them; but not of Indira Gandhi though she was then living as well as a powerful world leader. Now it’s amazing to see living politicians displaying their own photos on notebooks and schoolbags. Of course people should not mind as long as these are distributed free to the needy students. But what message does it convey to the students?

Granted he has done this with an eye on the elections. However, if he has bought these books with his personal money, why should anyone oppose? Furthermore, he has distributed books to the school children which is certainly a good thing. I find nothing wrong with this as many a poor child would have benefited. Instead of opposing this gesture just for the sake of opposing, let me remind Mr. Kateel about his promise to go on fast if the Yettinahole project were to go ahead. The ill advised project appears to be going ahead in full steam. What has this man done? What happened to his promise? As usual, disappeared in thin air.

Mr. Bawa is a clean business tycoon and is made fit in to politics to extent patronage to his business interests. His photo on notebooks can motivate children to come up in life with all improprieties. After all, Luring voters before elections are declared is not an offence in our country.....!

Moideen Bava one of the few active MLA of Karnataka State.Out of Jealous these agitation was organized.

Did he inserted his party's symbol?

For any donation of RS 10 000 or above family photos are installed in the walls of orgs/institutions etc

Nalin or other BJP leader let follow Bava's initiative.

BAVA and his family are doing business since long time...He spent over half crore to give free books for entire students of his contituency.

Problem is Mr Moideen Bava using social media very effectively for his developmental projects which attracted jealous from his foe and friends.

A huge fund who brought from Siddu for modernization of Surthakal market also a cause fury against him

Mr Moideen Bava's proximity with CM which may helped Mr Bava to bring unprecedented developmental projects to his constituency might be main cause of stir against him.

With in couple of hours he brought up a bus stand in Surathkal when he noticed that a lot of people are facing inconvenience with out having bus shelter made him to act with in a record time.

JUST MEET HIM,HE SOMETIME FORGET THAT HE IS A MLA and always down to earth.

FINALLY,BJP's double standard is this"THERE OWN MLA WHO DISTRIBUTED BOOKS WITH HIS PHOTO AND BJP PARTY SYMBOL and his NAME IS NARAYAN SWAMY!!!!!!!Therefore,in this drama MOIDEEN BAVA GAINED MORE THAN what he going to loose....

Government should give freedom to all people to distribute any thing useful for free to schools or to poor people or to old age home etc with their pictures on it!

For some its self promotion, for some its prestige, for some it's charity & for some it's name in society but it will be helpful for those needy people who receive!!!

Earlier Late Jaya lalita used to put her pic on all items distributed to needy during flood in Tamilnadu! and She didn't take anything while going 6 feet down!
