Bengaluru, May 25: Former excise minister and in-charge minister of Bagalkote H Y Meti has been given a clean chit in a sex scandal by Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Meti was forced to resign in December last year after a CD containing the clips of him with a woman spending some intimate moments surfaced and was circulated. It was alleged that Meti received sexual favours from the woman.

Meti, though resigned, maintained that he was innocent. The woman, who happened to be his distant relative, too called it a fake video.

Chief minister Siddaramaiah entrusted the case to CID after demand from opposition.

CID, in its report submitted to the government on May 17, has said that it does not have any evidence to prove that Meti was in the video. CID report says that it analysed the copy of the video in question and learned that the video was not original.

The CD, circulated by some political leaders, is believed to have been edited or doctored.

As the original video was not available till now, CID says it is not possible to implicate Meti in any way.

Meti is a close confidante of Siddaramaiah.
