Mangaluru: Ganja sale - one held, another escapes

Mangaluru, Apr 25: Police personnel belonging to Barke station here arrested a person found to be selling ganja at Sultan Battery area in the city on Monday April 24. The arrested accused happens to be Safwan (25), resident of Bendorewell here.

During the police raid, Nitesh Shetty from Mnagaladevi, who was accompanying Safwan, succeeded in giving the police personnel a slip. The police recovered 12.5 grams of ganja worth Rs 8,000 from Safwan besides a cellphone worth Rs 35,000.

Based on reliable information, Barke police station crime branch police sub-inspector, Narendra, and other staff conducted this raid. The police have learnt that Nitesh Shetty used to get ganja from elsewhere and supplied the same to ganja sellers in the city. The police are searching for Shetty. The arrested accused was produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.
