Kundapur: Hit-and-run - Man dies after being struck by ambulance near Tekkatte

Kundapur, Apr 1: In a hit-and-run accident, a pedestrian was killed on the spot after being struck by an ambulance near Tekkatte bus stand here on Saturday April 1.

The deceased has been identified as Babu Naik, a resident of Gulwady.

Babu Naik was returning after work to his wife's house near Tekkatte Patel House when the accident took place.

While crossing the road, Babu was standing on the divider and was about to set foot on the road, when an ambulance that was returning to Kundapur after dropping a patient in Udupi brushed past him, with its rear view mirror hitting him. Babu who lost balance fell on road and succumbed to injuries on the spot.

The ambulance driver, however, sped away without stopping.

The locals who came to know about the accident waylaid the ambulance at Shastri circle.

Kota police arrived on the spot and registered a case after taking possession of the ambulance.

    This is very sad to know that the Ambulance driver, he supposed to help victim of any accident , didn't stop and run away.

    Very very sad and Driver should be sacked immediately.

    Shame on the ambulance driver. First he should have driven the ambulance without hitting it, but when it happens he ahd to stop and lookafter the injured. The one who ahd to help are skipping. Punishment is a must and he shouldnt be allowed to drive ambulance. May the soul of deceased rest in peace, heartfelt sympathy to the family.
