Bengaluru: KCWA - RT Nagar holds annual get-together bash 'Sahamilan'

Bengaluru, Jan 18: KCWA RT Nagar had their annual get-together 'Sahamilan' at Patels Inn, here on Sunday January 15. Fr Roshan D'Souza, from Udyavar pursuing higher studies at St Peter’s Seminary commenced the celebration with a Holy Mass in Konkani at St Jude’s Church, RT Nagar. He was the main celebrant of the Mass.

In his homily, Fr Roshan D’Souza stressed on the importance of baptism, how to lead a true Christian life of and to be an example for others.

President of KCWA, Peter Pinto set the tone for the evening by welcoming the chief guest, other dignitaries, members and their families. MLC Ivan D’Souza (chief whip, Govt of Karnataka), Mabel Rego (vice president- KCWA RT Nagar), Fr Roshan D'Souza, Fr Kanikaraj (parish priest of St Judes Church), Arun Fernandes (FKCA chairman) and former presidents of KCWA RT Nagar presided over the function and were felicitated by the KCWA council members. Peter Pinto in his keynote appreciated the former presidents and council members for their selfless contribution towards the growth of the Konkani community and encouraged the youth to join the association to carry the mantle forward.

Edward D’Souza former president of KCWA, RT Nagar and former chairman of FKCA did the honour of introducing MLC Ivan D'Souza chief guest for the event.

MLC Ivan D’Souza addressed the gathering by highlighting the facilities provided to the minority community and scholarships to the students of various fields. He encouraged the community to come forward and utilise these facilities provided by the government. He also emphasised and called upon the Konkani speaking community to join such community associations and contribute toward the growth of the community.

Fr Kanikaraj, parish priest of St Judes Church, RT Nagar who witnessed the oneness and unity said it was heartening to see people working selflessly for the betterment of the Konkani community and only this kind of unity will keep the community alive.

KCWA honoured students who have academically excelled. Rupert Fernandes was felicitated in the field of sports for his achievement in bagging the French International title 'Super Randonneur' in cycling and Lullus Coutinha was honoured for his selfless work and contribution toward the Konkani community. Married couples who are a part of the KCWA community were also felicitated for the successful completion of their golden jubilee.

Joe Sequeira with his classic wit and style compared the show for the evening. Olivia Pereira, co-host for the event was at her best and raised their spirits by organising games and leading the cultural show.

Sunitha Pinto, secretary of KCWA community proposed the vote of thanks. She thanked all the donors and the members of the association in making this event a grand success.

Childrens and youngsters enthralled the crowd with their endearing voices. The dance performances by the children and the young talented ladies of the association highlighted the evening and were a true treat. The audience was left completely mesmerised by their fantastic performances.

DJ Gladson had the crowd grooving to his fusion of songs. The event concluded at 10 pm with a fellowship dinner. It was truly a memorable evening to cherish for every member of the KCWA community who attended the event.
