Dubai: Kevin Misquith’s Live in Concert enthrals music enthusiasts

Dubai, Nov 5: The Mangalurean Konkani people had a gala time at the 38th Kevin Misquith show held at Emirates Theatre, Dubai organized by Rhythm Events. The evening witnessed perfect blend of old and new genre music along with comedy and dance performances.

The audience thoroughly enjoyed electrified performances by the youth rock-star Melwyn Antony D'Souza when he presented ‘Tak din tak din’ and ‘Pavle’ songs. ‘Kaliz Tujer Bhullam’ by singing couple Donny and Asha Correa and ‘Taval taval vaag’ by Joseph Mathias were well received by the audience.

 

 

 

The highlight of the evening was the grand tribute paid to Konkani music legends led by Kevin Misquith and team. The songs ‘Suryachi Kirna’, ‘Claudia’, ‘Anjasarke Chedu’, ‘Juliana’, ‘Tuje sobeet don dole’, ‘Mog tuzo kitlo ashelo’ made the crowd nostalgic.

Comedians Richa and Mellu supported by UAE artists Ramcy Fernandes, Godwin, Lavina and Helvin and directed by Pradeep Barboza were at their best in adding humour and laughter to the evening.

The mesmerizing dance performances by Jeethan D’Cunha, Bluma Sequeira, Mevis Pinto, Nickson D’Souza, Renita D’Souza, Varun Crasta and Sharal D’Souza of Feet Beat Art Center made the audience dance to the beats of Band Milestone.

Lenita Noronha, Sabitha Mathias, Diany Dsouza, Jeevan Edward Vas, Jeevan Paul Vas and Pratima Vas supported the singers as backing vocalists.

Kevin Misquith presented ‘Mujya Anja’, ‘Thembe thembe’, ‘Kalza taar’, ‘Kenna Kenna’ and ‘Hi jeen’ songs. ‘Hey yo’ performance by Miss Daijiworld Jessica Fernandes was well appreciated by the crowd. ‘Hi raat’ and ‘Tu Munon’ by Ashwin Sequeira were loved by the audience and could be considered as hits of this show. Ashwin Sequeira, Jackson Noronha, Sabitha Mathias and Kevin Misquith sang unplugged versions of ‘Abolem, ‘Kan kan’, ‘Az muni tuka muzo ugdas’ and ‘Ek glass beer’ respectively. Members of Band Milestone and Kevin Misquith presented the group song ‘Kogleso Talo’.

‘Kenna Kenna’, the 6th music album of Kevin Misquith comprising of romantic Konkani songs was inaugurated by Joseph Mathias and James Mendonca during the concert.

Band Milsetone comprising of Ian Sachin Saldana on Drums, Rikith Soans on Bass Guitar, Ashwin Sequeira on Acoustic Guitar, Jackson Noronha on Keyboard, Clyde Lobo on lead guitar created magical music vibes.

Sheldon Crasta and Vernon D’Souza compered the event beautifully.

Inaugural programme

Earlier in the evening the programme was inaugurated by Fr Robert Lasrado, Joseph Mathias, James Mendonca, representatives of Martin Ashwin Jossy Pereira by lighting lamps. Lee Dalmeida, president, Konkan Yuva and Smitha Priya Pinto, secretary, Konkan Yuva were present on the dais.

Fr Robert gave a call to speak and promote Konkani in Dubai. He also appreciated the efforts of Konkan Yuva in bringing up Kevin Misquith Live in concert in Dubai. Ashwin Jossy Pereira, the promoter of Icare developers congratulated Konkan Yuva on its decennial celebration.

Fr Robert felicitated Martin Aranha, managing director of Globelink West Star Shipping (received by representative), Ashwin Jossy Pereira, director, Icare developers, Peter, general manager of Digital World, Joseph Mathias, managing director of Merit Freight Systems, Michael D'Souza, director of Ivory Grand (received by representative), James Mendonca, managing director of Reliable Group of Companies, Abdul Khadar, director of Jashan, Shalita Menezes, director of Timesouq.com, Joel Crasta of Broadway events, William Sequeira, director of Wilmar shipping, Pradeep Barboza, Novi Almeida, Gilbert Dsouza, director of Al Tabadul and other sponsors of the event.

The programme concluded with the grand Baila dance.

‘Ye Mhojea Bhangara’ album release

‘Ye Mhojea Bhangara’, Konkani album of Wilfred Fernandes, Kinnigoli/Abu Dhabi and Ronston Mascarenhas was released by Thushara Kuruvitage during this event. Wilfy, Ronston, Tushara, Prathima Vas, Lee and Smitha were present on the stage.

Venicia Rodrigues compered the inaugural programme.

Broadway sounds provided sound and lights to the event.

    Unnecessary delay on starting the program even it is houseful show!!. Very Good program after long time. Songs, Dance and comedy altogether a complete package. well organised. Thanks to KY.
