Karnataka MLC poll results: Congress-4, BJP-2 and JD (S) 1


June 10, 2016, Agencies: The ruling Congress won four and opposition party BJP won two seats in the election for Legislative Council held on Friday morning. JD (S) managed to get a seat.

Congress leaders Allam Veerabhadrappa, R B Timmapur, Veena Achchayya and Rizwan Arshad emerged victorious.




BJP leaders former minister V Somanna and second candidate in the election Lehar Singh won by thumping majority, say media reports.

The Opposition parties BJP and JD(S) were short of numbers and were seeking support of members of smaller parties and Independents to ensure the victory of their second candidates.

    I don't think that we need wealthy, multi crore pathy MLCs & Rajya Sabha MPs who r not elected by the people to enjoy with tax payer's money. When most of the elected representatives have failed miserably to provide us the basic things why the Government wants to waste the tax payer's money on these unelected members, as I believe that their service to the citizen's is a big Zero.
