Kundapur, Nov 7: On the allegation of trying to kill wild boar frequenting the area with the help of explosives made from phosphorous, a person was arrested and four live ammunition were recovered from Jaddinagadde Kelasunka in Amasebail in the taluk. The incident occurred on Friday November 6 in the forest region which falls under Agumbe sanctuary.

A team led by range forest officer arrested a person and confiscated four explosives from his possession. The accused has been identified as Raghava Shetty (55), a resident of Kelasunka.

Some areas falling under the said sanctuary are located on the border of Amasebail village. Reportedly, a good number of wild boars live in forest region at Jaddinagadde, Kelasunka, and neaby areas. Raghava Shetty, it is said, prepared country-made explosive material on his own by using phosphorous, and kept them as trap for wild boars in the areas falling under the sanctuary. Some locals who came to know about this, conveyed information to the range forest officer.

The accused was gathering the explosives he had planted the previous night on Friday morning, when forest officials swooped on the area and arrested Raghava Shetty. Four live country-made explosives were recovered from him. The forest officials said that the crude explosives made locally had been wrapped around with decomposed animal skin. Shetty, it is said, himself made this ammunition.

Amasebail range forest officer registered a case and produced the accused in the court.
