Kasargod: Two cops suspended for torturing Dalit youth

Kasargod, Mar 30: District superintendent of police (SP) Dr A Srinivas has suspended two policemen of special squad for torturing a Dalit youth in Kasargod police station.

The suspended policemen are identified as Sunil Abraham and Pradeep Kumar.

It is learnt the policemen had taken the youth into custody after receiving a complaint that he acted indecently with a young girl during a call made on mobile phone.

The SP who received a complaint regarding the torture investigated the matter and ordered their suspension.

Sources said that the girl is a relative of accused cop Sunil Abraham.

This is not the first time that Pradeep Kumar is getting suspended. He had earlier been suspended for receiving bribe from a theft accused.

The youth who was subjected to torture has also complained to the Human Rights Commission. Investigation is in progress.
