B'lore: Parameshwar, 6 others to become MLCs, Ivan D'Souza not included

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Jun 10: With the rejection of the nomination papers filed by two independents – K A Mohan and K Padmarajan – on Tuesday, the remaining 7 candidates would be declared elected unopposed to the Karnataka Legislative Council from the State Assembly on June 12.
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is June 12 and consequently the seven remaining candidates would declared  elected unopposed on that day.

The seven candidates remaining in the fray are: KPCC President Dr G Parameshwara, former minister H M Revanna, N S Boseraju and Jayamma Balaraj (all Congress), T A Sharavana of JD(S), former deputy Chief Minister K A Eshwarappa and D U Mallikarjun (Independent).
The nomination papers of the two independent candidates K A Mohan and K Padmarajan was rejected by the State Legislative Assembly Secretary Om Prakash, who is also the returning officer, as the nomination papers were not signed by the 10 members of the State Assembly as was necessary.
The four candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections from the State Assembly - B K Hariprasad, Rajeev Gowda (both Congress), Prabhakara Kore (BJP) and Kupendra Reddy of JD(S) - will also be declared elected unanimously on June 12, the last day for withdrawal of nominations.

Sources had earlier claimed that KPCC secretary Ivan D'Souza from Mangalore had been nominated for the Legislative Council. However, his name was not included in the final list.

However, Ivan D'Souza may still have an opportunity to become an MLC, as sources said that he may be nominated to one of the five vacant seats.

AJ, Its wrong to say that Ivan not won any election. He won Mandal Panchayth election in 1986. He was with Janatha party (JDS). I also got elected as Mandala Panchayath member Independent candidate of our Malali Mandala Panchayath. He got ticket for MLA with congress last time and lost. Suresh Ballal was much eligible candidate for congress at that point of time. This time J.R.Lobo got chance and elected. Ivan opposed JR Lobo joining congress with the fear he getting sidelined. However he got still chance to get suitable post in congress. The public opinion about Ivan is very poor among autorikshow union representatives. managed

There is no place in Congress for able leaders. Cunning people like Veerappa Moily are favoured in congress. Time has come for Ivan to show his capabilities.

Now the time has come that minority communities to think of an alternative party. Congress has done nothing to Christian community.Congress leaders have done nothing to Mangalore or South Kanara. So why cant our youth think of BJP or JDS?Now the Christian youth should thin very seriously.Congress has no place for good leaders like Ivan D'Souza.

Mr. Ivan better luck next time. Once again congress proved they are using minorities for the sake of Vote Bank. Congi is Like " Kandodi" do not believe them. There no political parties who are really concerned about the development of the country. Hope Mr. Modi will prove wrong all the allegations against him and will work for the country.

    Langoolacharya,

Ivan D Souza is still young and he can wait for his moment to strike. On the other hand KP Nanjundi also left out in spite of too much commotions from their community where as Shravana of JDS(KP NANJUNDIand SHRAVANA both are Gold businessmen associated with respective political parties) .There are big waiting list in Karnataka for such slots and among one is SURESH BALLAL.Apart from that Souza's own community based in Bangalore might played a role in denying nomination as coastal based Lobo already MLA.

    Dear Dinesh,

At Rahuls age what he has become 125 crores of indians couldnt become , like wise at your age what you have become none of us can become , its individuality everyone is unique you cannot copy anyone else and become , the post is temporary the personality and goodness in a person only remains , i guess 125 crore indians can recognise rahul gandhi , but how many can recognise you and me ?? so let us build our characters so strong that we will be of use to society in some point or the other

Mr.Ivan D'Souza is an able candidate. He should have given an opportunity. As usual, the Lingayits and Hokkaligas got their share. The congress party has side lined the candidate from the minority community. They want only the votes of minorities.

This Rajya sabha and vidhna Sabha parishath seAt is totally in wanted. Both these houses should be scrapped. I have no doubt this will be done by modiji. There should be a public movement against these scrap houses. Let's hope these two houses will be eliminated soon. I am sure this will be done by modiji if there is a a strong opinion by public. By the way it's good news that people like Ivan should not get back door entry to any governing body.

..also i wonder what good will happen to country by nominating celebrities like Rekha,Thendulkar so on..it is reported that they have not spent single paisa of the fund which meant for development..there is many social activist, parties can appoint them if they genuinely concern about people..Parties should also shun giving tickets to cinema stars who are full time actors & part time politicians..INDIA needs real politicians with vision not reel politicians..For Ivan, it is better he leaves politics & concentrate on profession..evethough he is tireless & talented activist, he was not recognised by Congress..if he would have been in BJP may be minority minister by this time..
