New Delhi, Aug 17: In a shocking incident from Delhi’s Hauz Qazi area, a 39-year-old man has been arrested for raping his 65-year-old mother twice, claiming he was “punishing” her for a past relationship.

Police said the woman, accompanied by her 25-year-old daughter, lodged a complaint at the Hauz Qazi police station. The assaults occurred shortly after the family returned from a religious trip to Saudi Arabia.

According to the complaint, the woman lives with her husband, a retired government employee, her accused son, and younger daughter. The family’s elder daughter is married and resides nearby.

On July 17, the woman, her husband and younger daughter left for Saudi Arabia. During their trip, the accused allegedly pressured his father to return immediately and demanded that he divorce his wife, accusing her of past illicit relationships.

After the family returned on August 1, the accused allegedly locked his mother in a room, forced her to remove her burqa, assaulted and raped her, saying she had “spoiled” him in childhood. Traumatized, the woman left home and stayed with her elder daughter.

On August 11, when she returned home, the abuse continued. The complaint said that at around 9:30 pm, the accused again locked his mother in a room and told her he was punishing her. In the early hours of August 14, around 3:30 am, he raped her a second time.

The victim confided in her younger daughter, who encouraged her to approach the police. Based on her statement, a case under Section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered. The accused has since been arrested, and investigation is underway.
