Sullia, Nov 8: Indicating growing support to JD(S) in Dakshina Kannada, hundreds of workers from BJP and Congress joined JD(S) at the mega convention held here on Wednesday November 7. They were welcomed into the party with shawls and flags by party state president H D Kumaraswamy.

Addressing the gathering, Kumaraswamy said that BJP which had been dividing people in the name of religion is going to see its end very soon. "Let BJP's end begin with Sullia," he declared.

"Earlier I had become the chief minister all of a sudden and not with the blessings of the people. Yet, I launched several welfare programmes during my tenure," he said, giving a list of welfare programmes for farmers, widows, physically challenged, unemployed and others that he plans to launch if he became the CM again.

"One should fight not in the name of religion but for the welfare of the poor. But BJP and Congress have never done so all these years," he said, adding that if JD(S) came to power, it would send all those creating enmity in the name of religion to jail.

He further said, "The Congress and the BJP are drenched in corruption. Tax has been increased from 12.5 percent to 14.5 percent. Former chief minister Yedyurrappa who promised to work in the interest of farmers did not do so."

Prior to the formal stage programme, a rally was held wherein Kumaraswamy said that if given a chance, he would unite all unemployed youths and open a university for them where they would be trained for six months and job opportunities would be provided to them.

"A convention for farmers will be held in Hubli in December. During the convention financial support will be given to help farmers fix the best prices to their crops like arecanut, paddy, coffee, sugarcane, grapes and others," he said.

On the occasion, Kumaraswamy granted medical aid worth Rs one lac to Chandni and various other needy persons. Hundreds of people joined the party and thousands were part of the convention.

Leaders like M C Nanaiah, Amarnath Shetty, Nagaraj Shetty, Madhu Bangarappa, M B Sadhashiv, SL Bojegowda, Mahendra Kumar, Nandini Gowda, Kanyakumari, Krishnappa Poojary, Jeevijaya, Sadanand Shetty, Chitranjan Shetty, Ranjith Shetty, Deviprasad Shetty, Dayakar Alva, Madhava Gowda, Rakesh Kuntikan, Chandra among others were present.

Kumaraswamy also visited the Kukke Shree Subramanya Temple and offered special puja.

Speaking to mediapersons after offering puja, he said the BJP has enticed youths to a wrong path by making them believe that they were preserving Hindu culture.

On the controversy surrounding 'Made Snana' at Subramanya Temple, he said it is an act of devotion offered by the people. "In this regard various organizations and thinkers have approached the court, which is not correct. It is left to the people whether they want to perform Made Snana or not," he said.

Kumaraswamy further said that in a few days the names of election candidates will be released. "There is no chance of forming a coalition government in the state as people are aware of the corrupt politics played by the BJP and the Congress," he said, urging people to reject BJP and Congress and vote for JD(S), so that it may win with majority votes.

I am so surprised by Kumaraswamy's arrogant view on Made Snana, inspite of the favourable order of our High court.

Low caste Hindus and minorities must ban him completely.

There is populour proverb"gaali bandaaga thooriko"
It is not prudent to sail against the curren and not possible too.In politics there is no meaning for principle, deciplene, communalissm, castiesm etc., whi are irrelevent words. These factors are being exploited by all parties as the motto is to get the power. To get the power all 'circus games' are OK.

Kumaranna, you are predicting BJPs end which is IMPOSSIBLE.

You are also predicting 120 seats to JDS in coming election which is NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE.
You need to divide that number by 4, which is POSSIBLE.
