Bangalore: Sisters of Little Flower of Bethany Celebrate Silver Jubilee

Bangalore, Jul 26:
The Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Bangalore Province celebrated their silver jubilee on Monday July 25.
 
The Eucharist was celebrated in Jeevan Jyothi Chapel by the Archbishop of Bangalore Dr Bernard Moras and concelebrated with six priests. After the Mass a felicitation programme was held. Superior General Sr Wilberta presided over the function.

The Bangalore Province was solemnly erected on June 8 1986 at Bethany Convent Jayamahal here. The Province was dedicated to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Sr Dymphna was entrusted with the baton of animation and administration of the Province as its first Provincial Superior. Sr Esperie, Sr Felicia, Sr Elizabeth and Sr Prima were her councillors and Sr Gloriosa as the first Provincial Procurator. Sr Dymphna, "It was an expedition of faith" to take care of the ‘new born’.

Sr Felicia was the second Provincial Superior of the Province and she served for 8 years. On May 29 2001, Sr Bonita took over shepherding the Bangalore Province. She piloted the ‘ship’ for two terms of 4 years each, leading the Province to strides of Progress.

Sr Lilitta is the IV Provincial Superior from May 31, 2009 and Sr Jeevan, Sr Simon, Sr Tressy, Sr Prakash as councilors with Sr Therese as the Province Procurator.

The four were congratulated and honoured on the happy occasion. The Sisters of the Province recognized the labour of love of the senior Sisters, 75 years and above with a memento. A Souvenir to mark the event was released by Dr Bernard Moras. A small cultural programme was staged both by the novices and the student candidates.
