Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Jun 28: Though anti-cow slaughter bill was implemented, illegal cow trafficking and theft is continuing unabated in the coastal districts.

In the district of Udupi, illegal transportation of beef and cattle is continuing without any fear of law. The ineffectiveness of police has angered the Hindu organizations.

In the month of June until now, four cases of illegal transportation of beef, theft of cows brandishing swords has taken place in Udupi.

On June 11, 400 kg of beef was confiscated at Shirva. The beef was that of a cow which was stolen. The police held the offenders based on definite tip off.

On June 23, two cows were stolen from a house in the wee hours. When the family tried to prevent the cow thieves, they brandished knife and threatened to kill them.

Sale & Eating of beef is illegal in Karnataka & many other states of India. Do you know India is fourth Producer & Exporter of Beef in the world, after USA, Brazil, EU, China. Then why India is exporting Beef, if it is Holy animal for them then why put ban on Export. Which company is engaged in Export Business in India, everyone knows. In Gulf, who owns Super Markets which selling Beef ? Then, why this type of Double Standard prevails in India ? No one can force to anyone what to eat, when to eat ? This is nothing but VOTE BANK POLITICS............................

It's Buffalo meat where India ranks high in export. With the exception of Kerala and some north eastern states, cow slaughter is strictly forbidden in rest of the states. Once the law is enforced, all are mandated to abide by, regardless of individual's whims and fancies. Period.

Beef isn't technical banned. Buffalo meat is still available for sale but these cow stealing criminals steal young calfs for slaughter which isn't ethical right to slaughter.

The so-called Indian beef available in gulf supermarkets is buffalo meat. Read the labels in English and Arabic correctly, you will know it. In Mallu restaurants they call it beef.

Legal or import fresh Beef from foreign countries and cater to peoples demand. Non Hindus would not revere Cows as gaumata so why such forced law and rules on minority community in a Secular country ???

The object behind enforcement law against minoroties in any case is depended under well planned startegies. They allowing slaughter in few states where they rule who are thier vote bank but keeps deprive for the people they rule who are not thier vote bank. Height of the double standard.

this shows that the cow protectors are not doing what they claim to do... they must be harassing cow / beef transporters for money, not for protection of cows...

Govt can not stop the flow of water... It is but natural that people will eat this nutritious meat... What is holy for some is a delicious gift of God for lot others... As Mr. Shetty rightly pointed out in his comment sale and consumption of beef must be legalised in all towns and villages... Inclusive governance has to respect food choice of significant minority... Many in majority also appreciate beef biriyani , beef sukka , beef chilli and beef pepper...

When we make a law we must understand if it is enforceable with the support of atleast 70% of population. Farmers will surely sell their animals to butchers as there is no space to read so many animals. Govt must consider legalising slaughter houses in every taluk so that , cheap meat is available for people who wants to eat . This will also make stealing unaffordable.
