Mangaluru: Sea erosion increases in Someshwar, Ucchila, compound washed away

Mangaluru, Jun 27: Sea erosion increased in Someshwar and Ucchila on the outskirts of the city. More than 20 houses at Seaground in Ullal and land area at Battapady is being washed away into the sea.

Permanent and temporary works related to sea erosion have taken place till Kileria town near Seaground. As the work over 500 meter length is still pending, the erosion has increased considerably. Compound walls of houses are washed away into the sea.

MLA U T Khader visited Seaground and instructed district administration to immediately put stones in affected areas to prevent destruction of land area. He also spoke to port minister Angara over phone and drew his attention to the issue.

    Water always finds path of least resistance... It is but near stupid to leave a portion of revetment unfinished... It has become the common tendency of authorities to act upon destruction and not before it... If their homes were in that area they would have done differently...
