Tulukoota Qatar organizes Fitness week challenge

Doha, May 24: Tulukoota Qatar, an associate organization of ICC, conducted its maiden Fitness Challenge program from May 13 to 20 at Ideal Indian School grounds for its members. This week-long programme was a landmark event marking the 75th Independence day as the theme. The concept had five days of individual activities and two days of games with a vision of bringing in fitness as the talking point in everyday life and at the same time get the members connected to each other .The community bonding barring the barriers has transcend for years as a milestone of joy of coming together as a community.

The event had many elements which made it a success despite its weeklong structure. The rudiments of family coming together and working towards mental and physical strength was the core of the success. The decentralized leadership stature with members being the team captains and Vice captain and driving the force of more than 200 registered members for the fitness week, which included kids and adults across the teams.The registered members were divided into four teams with Tulu names of directions namely- Paddai lead by captain Amith Poojary and vice captain Lavanya Achar second team was called Thenkai with captain Sujith Kumar and vice captain Della Rego, third team was called Badakai with captain Arun Shriyan and vice captain Jagdish Salian fourth team was called Moodai with captain Divyashree and vice captain Kaviraj Shetty.

The propel and vigor of everyday activities brought in a lot of psychological behavior change as many of the members came back and said they challenged themselves as they couldn’t believe that they could do so much physical work out in a day and relish the benefit of the same even though they had an understanding of the same. The picture of all generations coming together and engaging and making the event a grand success is a memory to treasure.

The week long fitness programme was declared open by Patron of Tulukoota Qatar Dr M Ravi Shetty in presence of advisory board chairperson Chaitali Uday Shetty, advisory board members and past president of Tulukoota Qatar Ramachandra Shetty, Asmath Ali, president Kiran Anand, vice president Chaitali Suhas Shetty and other managing committee members and community leaders Anil Boloor - MC member Indian Sports Centre Qatar, Milan Arun - past president ICC, Raghunath Anchan - president Billavas Qatar, Arun Kumar - Ex MC Member Indian Sports Centre. Sports secretary Ashwin K administered oath to all the participants. The opening ceremony programme was compered by Suchetha.

Apart from the daily activities and games such as Kabaddai, Kho Kho, Tug of War, Lagori and Football, session of Zumba was conducted on the opening day by Priyanka from BollywoodwithPriyanka, session on Yoga was conducted by Vinitha Shetty and Shwetha. Chief referee for the week-long activities and games was Lynel Jason Lobo.

The closing ceremony was graced by chief guest Baburajan - president ICC, Vinod Nair - president ICBF, guest of honour Zaheeruddin Ibrahim, Qatar Men's National Cricket Team member. Also in presence during the closing ceremony were Tulukoota past presidents Ramachandra Shetty and Chaitali Uday Shetty, community leaders Milan Arun - past president ICC, Subramanya Hebbagilu - VP ICC, Deepak Shetty - ICC advisory board member, Fayaz Ahmed - president KMCA, Raghunath Anchan - president Billawas Qatar, Arun Kumar - Ex MC member Indian Sports Centre.

The chief guest Babu Rajan mentioned that it was significant that Tulukoota could bring so many members together and praised the initiative and asked the members to carry on with the fitness activity after the event. Guest of honour Zaheeruddin Ibrahim mentioned that as a sports person he would suggested that everyday all the members should take up some or other form of simple exercises to remain fit. Vinod Nair recalled about the bicycle initiative of ICBF and appreciated the initiative.

Kiran Anand the president expressed his joy and gratitude to all the participants. He delightedly expressed Tulukoota also created history by success of the Fitness week challenge. He further emphasized that the initiative brought the whole community together and that is the beauty of the programme and more so it was lead by the team leaders unconditionally. The team leader had put heart and soul into the teams in motivating the members and took the Fitness challenge to it pinnacle.

The programme was compered by Amith Poojary, prize distribution was conducted by general secretary Sagar Kotian and vote of thanks proposed by vice president Chaitali Suhas Shetty.
