Udupi: Souharda Nadige, Sahabalve Convention to be held on May 14

Udupi, May 12: Sahabalve Udupi and Karnataka Progressive Associations Federation are jointly organising Souharda Nadige and Sahabalve Convention on May 14 at the Christian School Ground here.

Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, May 12, Prof K Paniraj, correspondent of convention committee said, “Samarasya Nadige, a procession will begin from Martyrs ground Ajjarkad. The leaders of Karnataka Sauharda organisations will launch the procession march.”

"Dalit Sangarsha Samiti leaders Mavalli Shankar and R Mohanraj, farmers’ leaders H R Basavarajappa, Chamarasa Mali Patil and Chukki Nanjundaswami, K Neela, Women rights activist, Dr Belgaum Mohammed Sad, Muslim community leader, Sabiha Fatima, sub-editor, Anupama monthly and Nazma Chikkanerale , youth fighter will join the procession.

"Beautiful tableaus of famous personalities like Narayana Guru, Dr B R Ambedkar, Gandhiji, Swami Vivekananda, Mother Theresa, Haji Habdullah, Madhav Mangala, Dr TMA Pai will also be taken out." Prof Paniraj said.

"Cultural teams and people from across the state holding the national flag will also join in the march. Vinay Srinivas and Bahutva Karnataka will deliver keynote address, he said.

"The procession will commence from Ajjarkadu, pass through Jodukatte-Court Road-Diana circle-Triveni circle-Clock Tower-Kediyur Hotel-City Bus stand road and go back to service bus stand nearby road and traverse via Clock tower (left side) road-Triveni circle-Diana circle-old taluk office-Mission hospital and will reach the ground by passing through Mission Hospital Road," he added.

"The special guest of the occasion, Sasikanth Senthil, retired IAS officer will preside over the Sahabalve convention," Prof Paniraj said.

Yogendra Yadav, Human Rights activist will deliver the main speech and Dr Ronald Colaco, president, Karnataka Christian organisation, international federation will be special dignitaries, Prof Paniraj said.

Popular singer M D Pallavi and her team will entertain the audiences through a performance. Many religious leaders participate in the formal stage function, he said. 

Guru Basava Pattadevaru, Hiremath Samsthana, Balki, Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji, Puthige Math, Jainul Ulama M Abdul Hamid Musliyar Mani, Khazi, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan, Fr Vargese Mar Makarios, bishop, Puttur Malankara Catholic Church, Dr Mathe Basavanjali Devi, Basavajnana Mandira, Mysuru, Basavaprakash Swamiji, Basava Dharma Peetha Belgaum, Bhanthe Mathe Maithri, Lokaratna Buddha Vihara, Bengaluru, Moulana Iftikar Ahmed Kasmi, president, Jamiyathul Ulemaye Hind Karnataka, Dr Pranavananda Swamiji, Ranibennur math, Dr MSM, Abdul Rashid Sakhafhi Zaini Kamil, president,Sunni Yuva Jana sangha, Karnataka, Rev Dr Habert M Watson, principal, Karnataka Theological College, Maulana U K Abdul Azeez Darimi Chokkabettu, secretary, Karnataka Darimi Ulema okkoota, Fr Chethan Lobo, Udupi diocese, and Jnani Balaraj Singh, Gurudvara, Manipal will be present as guests on the occasion, he said. 

Convention committee members Veronica Cornelio, Sundar Master, Fr William Martis, Ibrahim Kota, and Balakrishna Shetty were also present in the press meet.
