Jagajyothi Kala Vranda Announces Awards to Prajna Marpalli and Kamala Narasimha

The metro-based Jagajyothi Kala Vranda has selected Prajna Marpalli for Susheela Memorial Story Award and Kamala Narasimha for Susheela Memorial Poetry Award.  Jagajyothi Kala Vranda is at the threshold of silver jubilee celebration, while it has been conferring both story and poetry awards since the past fourteen years.



Prajna Marpalli:

 
She is hailing from Kaup in Udupi district.  Her Kannada story ‘Avalu Mattu Nanu’ was chosen for story Award.  She is a diploma holder in journalism and post graduate in Kannada.  She is serving as Kannada lecturer in a college in metro.  She has written a thesis on ‘Dr N S Laxminarayan Bhattara Samagra Kavya – Ondu Adhyayana and presented to Manipal University for her Ph D.  She is the daughter of Gururaj Marpalli and Rajeshwari couple. 
 


Kamala Narasimha:

 
Her handwritten Kannada poetry ‘Ee Nela’ was chosen for the Poetry Award.  She has authored novels – Bhugarbha, Aposhana, Haddu and others.  Her short story book ‘Shadyantra’ and poetry ‘Bellada Madu’ and other anthologies have enriched Kannada literature.  She is hailing from Tumkur in Karnataka and serves as lecturer in a college in metro.
 
Professor Sitaram R Shetty, Laxmi Joshi, V S Shanbagh and Sa Daya were the jurors in selecting the winners for the Award.
