Udupi, Apr 23: A cave found on the national highway during the road widening work here has aroused curiosity of locals. The huge cave was seen at Parkala in a portion of the fields when the road was being widened for Manipal-Parkala national highway. The cave is wide enough for a man to walk in. Several people visited the spot to see it.

“The work of levelling the hills for constructing the road is hard. We have undertaken work from Udupi to Manipal. But this is the first time that we found a structure like this,” said contractor company engineer Jos.

The fields in this part are also called ‘Permari Gadde’. Locals suspect the presence of several such structures here. Researcher of historical and ancient structures, T Murugeshi visited the spot and conducted inspection.
