Bantwal: Rain lashes taluk, no casualties reported

Bantwal, Apr 13: Heavy rains coupled with thunder and lightning lashed the taluk since Wednesday evening. Widespread damage was reported due to the rain.

The house wall and tiled roof of Jayasthree Achari at Kevalaguri, Munchi grama was damaged due to the downpour leaving the house on the verge of collapse.

Lightning struck the houses of Ayisha and Kukkaje in Manchi grama damaging the electric poles and the compound walls of the house. The electric meter in Shambuga Sheena Moolya’s of Mani grama was damaged due to the lightning, revenue department officials said.

Vehicles damaged at Vitla:

Stones from the nearby building fell on vehicles parked at V H Complex in Vitla due to the heavy rain on Wednesday evening. Several vehicles were damaged.

Heavy rains lashed Vitla in the evening. The pile of hollow blocks tied to the yellow cloth on the podium for protection from sunshine also fell down due to the rain. Nearly five vehicles, mainly two-wheelers which were parked in front of V H Complex were also badly damaged due to the rainfall. However, no casualties were reported.
