Six Rooftop Passengers Killed after Train Passes under Low Bridge


SHAHJAHANPUR, Feb 2 (IANS): At least six people were killed and 12 others injured Tuesday when swept off the roof of an overcrowded train they were travelling in, police said.

The accident occurred when the over-crowded passenger train passed under a low railway bridge here, police said.

The train was coming from Bareilly, and was carrying hundreds of Indo-Tibetan Border Police ( ITBP) aspirants who had gone there to attend a recruitment drive.

The train had many youths travelling atop as the coaches were full.
