As these are being handed over to private distributors they doesn't want any loss making ESCOMS . The meters can generate more revenue by showing faster readings than normal meters thereby causing loss to the consumers. In Mumbai as soon as private distributors got hold of distribution consumers got thrice the amount bills with inflated readings and those who contested got them reduced by half. Another security lapse will be hackers can obtain whether people are in their homes and smart robbers can target those which show no consumption. In US people are objecting them for their data leak and EMF radiation.

Kujumaji, you said it all. Paying property tax is like climbing Mount Everest and changing a Khata is like swimming accross Indian Ocean. We are providing IT services to the world but we are still stuck at Obeeraya's time and follow the same old systems of turning pages of those old thick worn out registers and carbon paper copies. That's how we are going to be number one super Power of the world.

Property tax can be paid online now .. But to change you have to visit the MCC once ..just to confirm that you are not doing anything wrong the first time.. Although the MCC should be handling the property tax with proper visitor management ..providing token numbers and brining in a system when a citizen visits the MCC office .. right now its like fish market "Elaam" ..all enter the office like sheep and stand around the table of the IT guy at MCC
