Jan 17: Covid spike continues - Dakshina Kannada reports 490 cases; Udupi  442

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 17: Dakshina Kannada on Monday, January 17, reported 490 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 442 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,22,247 out of which 4,181 are currently active.

As many as 317 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,711.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,13,39,530 as fine in 93,641 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 442 new cases were reported on Monday. Udupi reported 258 cases, Kundapura 122 and Karkala 62.

414 patients are in home isolation, 13 in designated Covid hospitals and 15 in Covid care centres.

Total active Covid cases has risen to 3,595.

 A total of 239 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday. Coronavirus has claimed 491 lives in the district so far.

So far 10,13,258 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 8,54,521 have received the second dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.

So my All dears keep safe distance and wear a mask proper if it was disposable threw it after using 1 day and if it was washable please wash daily to fight against the spreading flue fever.
