Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 15: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, January 15, reported 792 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 607 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,20,975 out of which 3,447 are currently active.

As many as 335 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,706.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,12,80,680 as fine in 93,283 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 607 new cases were reported on Saturday. Udupi reported 398 cases, Kundapura 117 and Karkala 90.

564 patients are in home isolation, 15 in designated Covid hospitals and 28 in Covid care centres.

Total active Covid cases has risen to 2,879.

 A total of 63 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday. Coronavirus has claimed 491 lives in the district so far.

So far 10,13,258 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 8,54,521 have received the second dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
