Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Nov 30: Sunil Kumar (18), a first year mechanical diploma student of TMA Pai Polytechnic, Ishwaranagara Manipal, hanged himself in the paying guest (PG) accommodation between 9.45 am and 12 pm on Monday November 29.

The student was a native of Byndoor. He was a resident of Charvik PG, Manipal main road. In a report filed with Manipal police station, Shivaraya Poojary (38), paternal uncle of Sunil Kumar, said that the student was in the said PG for the last one month after the college became functional. He said that Sunil was not interested to stay in the PG but his parents had advised him to stay put in the PG for a year as he was expected to get hostel accommodation during the next year.

Either for this reason or because of a problem which the boy could not share with the others, he hanged himself from the ceiling fan of his room in the PG by using a cloth. A case under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code was registered in Manipal police station.

Very sad.I simply ask, what is PG?Is it ,students stay together ?in a group? When then may be he was having problems from them ,.WE hear mostly senior students trouble juniors who come fresh ragging etc takes place.Just find out whether such problem made him problems. He must have not simply hanged himself when he already told Parents he didnt want to stay there.Heartfelt sympathy to his parents.May his soul rest in peace.Let us not give comments without knowing the cause.May be troubles were too much or anyone helped to it?
