Mangaluru: Two including Rayal D’Souza arrested in illegal sand mining case

Mangaluru, Oct 20: Two persons were arrested in connection to illegal sand mining from Ucchila sea shore on Wednesday October 20.

The arrested have been identified as Rayal D’Souza, a resident of Talapady and Mayyadi, a resident of Kallapu.

Two lorries and three motorcycles were also seized. Eight people who were reportedly present during the crime, escaped from the spot.

An FIR has been filed and case taken up by Ullal police station.

The raid was undertaken under the guidance of DCP.

    There are many more places in mangalore doing the sand business which is causing noise by the truck and damaging the roads etc Some residential areas doing pig farming too which is causing foul smell to the residents Is this done with the permission from mangalore mahanagar Palika?     Why does every news take religious political overtures among commentators instead of understanding gravity & seriousness of crime. Like a pet waiting for a buiscuit to be thrown. This act or crime is mindlessly endangering lives of coastal residents & adding to sea erosion

    Millions of tonnes iron ore miners escaped without any cases. Poor people removing few loads of sand became miners because hafta was not paid.
