Udupi, Oct 18: Harsha’s 3rd mega store, spread over 40,000 sq ft, was inaugurated on Monday October 18 by former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake at Shree Datha Kripa Building, near city bus stand here.
Somashekar Bhat, former president, Udupi municipality inaugurated the formal function by lighting the lamp. K Raghupathi Bhat, MLA, Udupi, Pramod Madhwaraj, former minister, government of Karnataka, Sumithra Nayak, president, Udupi Municipal Council, Goutham Pai, executive chairman, Manipal Technologies Ltd, Rama Naik, general manager, Canara Bank, Manipal Circle, Rama of Shri Chitrapur Math, singer Nihal Tauro, Indian Idol 12 finalist, and Surya Prakash, managing director, Ashok Kumar, Harish, Suresh, Rajesh and staff of the Prakash Retail Pvt Ltd were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Vinay Kumar Sorake said, “Bola Poojary dreams have become a reality. He had thought of providing jobs to job seekers who could be the bread winner for families. They treat the staff as members of their family. The hospitality of the store is another reason to attract customers towards them. They have given world class products to the citizens of Udupi.”
Pramod Madhwaraj recalling Ramesh Pai of Manipal said, “In the entire nation, Udupi has displayed a great purchasing power on basis of population. Harsha opening its 3rd store in Udupi is the proof for this. Bola Poojary was a person full of ethics. This has been transferred to his children too. All the five brothers have stood unitedly and have run the business over the years.”
Sumithra Nayak said, “Harsha has reached its customers through Harshotsava. The staff and their delightful, respectful behaviour has attracted customers. It is a dream store for women. All the brothers are a proof for unity in strength.”
Rama Naik said, “Trust of customers is a key point for growth of business. In last 33 years, Harsha has reached every nook and corner. Harsha has reached nationwide through online mode. Even during Covid, Harsha performed well. This is a great facility provided by Harsha to the citizens of Udupi.”
Raghupati Bhat congratulated the entire team of Harsha and said, “Harsha is a name for trust. Bola Poojary has taught his children that business is not just for making profits but can be a bread earning mode for thousands of families. Harsha family is an idol for joint families. This showroom has increased the beauty of Udupi.”
Goutham Pai in his presidential address said, “Harsha is a household name in Karnataka. It is an inspiration for people in this area about what entrepreneurs from small town can do. Lot of hard work and entrepreneurship has gone through. Five brothers mutually build the enterprise over 30 years. Always come up with some innovative ideas, learn new things and to do things differently. Many large brands know Udupi because of Harsha. They use the data to the max, and because of that, you know what the customers want.”
Nihal Tauro was felicitated on the occasion. The singer entertained the audience with his melodious voice.

About the Prakash Retail Pvt Ltd
The first store was started in the March 1987 at KM Marg, Udupi. Since then, various stores have been opened in Mangaluru, Puttur, Kundapur, Brahmavar, Surathkal, Shivamogga, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi, Gulbarga and Bengaluru with the total retail space of 3.5 lac sq ft.
The 3rd biggest store is spread over 4 storeys, comprising 40,000 sq ft area, having more than 12,000 items which are essential for households.
