Mangaluru, Oct 7: MP and state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the 10- day Dasara celebrations here at Shree Gokarnanatheswara Temple Kudroli on Thursday October 7.

Idols of goddesses Navadurga and Sharada were installed. Goddess Sharada’s idol was carried in a simple procession within the temple premises. Tiger dance was performed before installation.

Through the 10 days of Dasara celebration, rituals will be carried out in the temple. The festival will be conducted adhering to the Covid protocols. Public should compulsorily wear masks and maintain social distance.

Procession is restricted as per the Covid protocols. Except the procession, rest of programmes like cultural and rituals will be carried out as per schedule. Use of mobile and clicking photos and selfies is restricted inside the temple and hall.

Mangaluru City Corporation has taken up the initiative of decorating the streets of Mangaluru with lights.

The first and second dose vaccination will also be provided from 10 am to 5pm at temple premises from October 7 to 16.

Sri Narayana Guru tableaux will be symbolically taken out from the temple via Ladyhill, Lalbagh, PVS and back to the temple.
