Da Ra Bendre Memorial Programme Remembers Litterateur’s Contributions

Mumbai, Oct 18:
“Renowned Kannada litterateur Da Ra Bendre, through his literary works, propagated universal brotherhood”, said Dr K S Sharma, director, Bendre Research Centre and columnist, ‘Karnataka Malla’.
 
Dr Sharma was delivering a special lecture on the contributions of Ambikatanaya Datta to universal literature during the Da Ra Bendre memorial programme, held under the aegis of Mumbai University (MU) Kannada department, Karnataka Sangh, Kannada Sahitya Parishat Maharastra unit, and Narayanamruta Foundation at MU campus, Kalina, Santacruz (East), on Saturday October 16.



 
“Da Ra Bendre was a perfectionist.  He was the one who started Dasara celebrations along with his friends in Dharwad”, added Dr Sharma. 
 
‘Karnataka Malla’ editor Chandrashekar Palettady and ‘Akshaya’ monthly bulletin honorary editor M B Kukyan released two books on Da Ra Bendre titled ‘Bendre Olanota’ and ‘Bendre Samagra Kavyadarshana’ authored  by  Dr  Jeevi on the same occasion.
 
Dr Jeevi was congratulated on his 75th birthday during the programme.
 
Narayanamruta Foundation president N R Rao, and Kannada Sahitya Parishat Maharastra unit president H B L Rao were also present.
 
MU Kannada department head Dr G N Upadhya welcomed the gathering.  Poornima Shetty proposed the vote of thanks while Sharada compered the programme.
