Kundapur: Mortal remains of youth who drowned two days ago found

Kundapur, Sep 21: Body of the youth, who drowned while swimming along with his friend near Mowadi bridge on Sunday was found on Tuesday September 21 in Sauparnika river near Bantwadi bridge.

Mahendra (24), resident of Holy Cross near Trasi is the deceased youth. On the evening of September 19, Mahendra, Ashique and Sharath had gone to the banks of Sauparnika river. Mahendra and Ashique got down into the river while their friend Sharath was watching from the bridge above. As the current in the water was more, Mahendra got drowned. Ashique was rescued by locals Ratnakar Kanchan and Yogendra Kanchan.

The search for the deceased youth’s body was on for two days. Fire service personnel and locals on boats were looking at the mortal remains. Diving expert Eshwar Malpe and local diving expert Dinesh Kharvi of Gangolli Lighthouse, locals Sandesh and Gururaj helped in the search operation.

Gangolli station officer Nanja Naik and personnel visited the spot.
