Bengaluru, Sep 13: Due to holidays for Gauri and Ganesha festivals combined with the weekend, major tourist destinations in the state witnessed teaming crowds. Beaches, hill stations and other attractive tourist spots witnessed huge rush during the weekend. In most of these places, the people who were hell-bent on having fun, clearly violated the coronavirus-related guidelines.

On a single day on Sunday, 8,000 people came to visit the Hampi monuments. During the three days, 12,000 people visited these monuments which highlight the rich heritage of the region. Beaches like Om Beach, Gokarn, Kudle, Malpe, and Murudeshwar too had large crowds.

In Chikkamagaluru, the district administration had fixed timing to regulate the rush of tourists. As a result, hundreds of vehicles were seen waiting at Kaimara on Tarikere - Chikkamagaluru road since early morning. The administration allowed only 150 vehicles to visit hill stations from 6 am to 9 am. After these vehicles returned, 150 more vehicles were allowed at around 2 pm. This arrangement resulted in verbal frictions between the check post personnel, police and the tourists.
