Kerala nurse administers 893 vaccines doses in 7.5 hours

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 31 (IANS): A Kerala nurse created a record, when in a marathon effort on August 15, she administered Covid vaccines to 893 people in 7.5 hours, leading to state Health Minister Veena George coming personally to appreciate her work.

Pushapalatha works as a junior public health nurse at the state-run Chengannur District Hospital, about 100 km from here.

However, she said this marathon effort came out well because of team work, with each and every health worker doing their role well.

"I did not do this for a record and everything was done as per the rules," said Pushapalatha.

Soon after this became a news, it drew criticism that health workers are overworked and it could lead to some issues.

In response, George said that this need not be seen in a negative way.

7 ,5 hours is 450 mind it almost 2 vaccines injected per minute. is it believable ? for a person to sit, lift sleeves , applying alcohol rub itself take 5 mins. Unless its a miracle ... it is not possible. If it is real..then she is a living saint among us

JayanthBangalore ,it is possible, provided they work in team. One draws the serum ,keep ready, other one keeps the patient ready on a stool, and she gives the injection.Important is everything is previously papers are seen ,and kept ready.Next nurse or personal takes out the Patient.Important is enough serum stock there.

due to acute shortage of medical workers to administer vaccine... 7.5 hours is almost 1 working day... that means she was alone to administer vaccine to 893 people... very bad situation...
