Mangaluru: Podar International School celebrates 75th Independence Day

Mangaluru, Aug 16: Podar International School, Mangalore, celebrated the 75th Independence Day on August 15 along with the whole nation, marking another milestone in the history of the world’s largest democracy.

To mark the occasion, principal, Girish Kumar, accompanied by school staff hoisted the national flag. “Potential Leaders of tomorrow are groomed, developed and raised in the miniature world of an educational institution through diverse portfolios that are offered to mark a difference.”

Independence day was extra special as the school also hosted its very first Virtual Investiture Ceremony wherein the newly elected members of the student council were administered the oath of office by the principal.

It was a moment of immense pride for the parents to pin the badges on the young office bearers, on behalf of the school management.

The leaders, head-girl, Aanya Amin and head-boy, Sreevatsa Pattaje, on behalf of the newly elected student council, thanked the students and teachers for reposing faith in them and electing them. They pledged to work with fellow prefects with a sense of cooperation and sincerity.

The principal in his address, emphasized the need to view the present pandemic situation as an opportunity to put technology to its best use. He advised students to use it sensibly and if used in a positive way, the possibilities are immense. He also mentioned, how India is technologically strong and confident, and if need be, can make a Google of our own. 

The principal, congratulated the newly elected student council members including House captains and class council members and stressed on the significance of setting priorities and the need to discharge their duties responsibly.

The ceremony culminated with the school song and the delivery of the vote of thanks. It was a moment of pride and gaiety for everyone.
