Doctors heroes without capes, sad to see brutal attacks on them: CJI

New Delhi, Jul 1 (IANS): The Chief Justice of India, N.V. Ramana, said on Thursday that doctors have emerged as heroes without capes during the Covid-19 pandemic, adding that it is saddening to see them being brutally attacked while on duty.

Delivering his speech on the occasion of National Doctors' Day at a 'Defeat Diabetes Launch Campaign', Ramana said that unless one sees doctors working personally, he/she can't visualise the discomfort of being in a PPE kit non-stop for 24 hours in day, and sometimes even for days together with no rest or proper food.

"My salute to all the heroes without capes," he added.

Deploring the brutal attacks on doctors, especially amid the raging pandemic, he said, "It is saddening that our doctors are being brutally attacked while on duty. Why is it that the medical professionals are at the receiving end for someone else's failure?"

He pointed out that issues such as insufficient number of medical professionals, infrastructure, medicines, outdated technologies, and government not giving priority to the medical sector are issues of immediate concern.

"Why is it that profiteering by corporates and investors is being blamed on doctors," he asked.

Ramana said that his heartfelt sympathies go to the families of more than 798 doctors who lost their lives in the deadly second wave of the pandemic.

"Owing to the nature of the disease itself, thousands of doctors and healthcare workers have been separated from their families during these difficult times. No amount of medical training or experience can ever prepare anyone to go through the psychological ordeals of the pandemic," he added.

Ramana also said that the pandemic has inflicted huge economic losses on the country and the world as a whole and emphasised that "it should wake us up to the reality that there is no substitute for free and universal public healthcare system with focus on disease prevention."

He insisted that there should be a comprehensive policy framework in place where the awareness campaign is also made a part of the 'diabetes eradication programme'.

"For the programme to be successful, the same has to be integrated into a free and universal public healthcare system. Left to individuals, we will never reach the goal," he added.

The CJI added that given the enormity of the challenge, it is essential to design diabetes awareness campaigns at the scale of anti-tobacco and pulse polio campaigns.

In every field there is this tendency prevailing.Reasons are many..Many a times cases though not democratic happens due to intolerance .Read an episode of heart burning case of heart surgons at famous hospital in Kudla recently.Inspite of issues becoming viral nowadays so many episodes.Even.legal system has lost its credence over passing of years since independence. It is disgusting to see even small common family issues becoming matter of cheap discussions in the courts today. Why in a country like ours a simple case of death of famous film actor SSR could not be dug inspite of intervention of ED or CBI and highly reputed police officers. Such cases are many.Doctors, banking staff more particularly branch heads ,police personnel more oftenly attacked on flimsy reasons yet our legal system is a mute spectator.A poor girl subjected to rape by influential can not expect justice within a limited time frame ...In our country an ordinary small thief who steal few tender coconuts during nights taking huge risk goes behind bars if caught. Not a smuggler or black marketeer though the cause us common. Reasons for all these maladies is obvious . Nothing but absence of political will power ..... Change of political guard can not necessarily bring changes in systems.System can't be set right till there is a system of humanity in place. Jai Hind...

Many of them are unfortunately under the mercy of BigPharma, Elites and mostly communist controlled WHO ? Whatever WHO says they need to follow. What these vaccine contains, whether these western vaccines only spread the second wave virus specially adeno virus containing covishield? and many deaths or second wave because of it or due to vaccine injuries? These answer are controlled by fact checkers of these elites, BigPharma and their controlled BigTech, same gets propogated. ( They blame it on new strain, that strain only from vaccine is one more question?). Pilot testing these vaccines in a city or two instead of blindly mass roll them out across the country could have saved many lives including those of doctors because before the vaccination covid was under control.

Why don't you judges get inspired by the doctors and work tirelessly without vacations and frequent adjournments to finish off the backlog of millions of cases? So many undertrial prisoners suffering unnecessarily in jail because of this.
