Benglauru, Jun 23: Current president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), DK Shivakumar, has not forgotten the inmates of Tihar jail who helped him when he was incarcerated there in the year 2019.

Shivakumar, who was arrested and lodged in Tihar jail two years back on the allegations of money laundering, was there for 48 days. He was released on bail thereafter, became active in politics, and also was made KPCC president.

Shivakumar spent 48 days behind the bars in Tihar Jail from September 2019. He, however, did not forget those who were with him inside the jail and has extended them help. Two of the prisoners had helped him. Shivakumar has got them released from prison, and given them a new life. One of them has been accommodated in Shivakumar's own house while the other has been provided with a job in a company in the city.

Mohsin Raza and another prisoner had helped Shivakumar who was not comfortable with the environs inside the prison. Shivakumar was in the cell where Mohsin was kept before being shifted to the prison. When he came out on bail, Shivakumar had promised the two that he would get them released. He remitted Rs 4.5 lac and got Mohsin released. He also allowed him to live in his own residence. These prisoners were serving food, tiffin, coffee, tea etc to Shivakumar besides washing his clothes. Mohsin also reportedly taught Shivakumar to speak fluently in Hindi. Mohsin has been appointed to do cooking in the house of Shivakumar's brother and MP, DK Suresh. The other has been provided with employment.

Mohsin was jailed in a family dispute case. He was jailed as he did not have Rs 4.5 lac to be paid to his wife as per the court order.
