Bantwal, May 8: A man filed a complaint to the office of district surgeon and medical superintendent of Wenlock hospital urging the authorities to return his mother's missing earrings.

According to Deekaiah of Bollur in Sarapady gram panchayat, his mother was admitted to the hospital following health complications on May 5. Though his mother was suffering severe breathing problem, she was made to wait in the ambulance for 90 minutes. Later, she was shifted to ICU.

On the next day, May 6, the hospital authorities informed him about his mother’s death. “On May 7, after receiving the Covid-19 negative report, the mortal remains were handed over to us. While shifting the body to the ambulance, both the earrings were missing from my mother's ears. When I questioned the staff, they took it very lightly and said ‘take a photograph of the patient before you send the patient to the hospital’. Later, I filed a complaint with the hospital authorities.

“Though we have filed a complaint, there is no use. We will wait for two days and will then file a complaint with the police,” said Deekaiah.

Indians have turned into " Vultures " they contemptuously with joy, delight preying on the living. Today they have become " Cannibals " feasting on the dead. Our nation has just 0•55 Hospital beds for every 1000 citizens !!! This apathy of neglecting our health care infrastructures, for 72 years, by successive governments, have exploded after this ravaging, pandemic !! Hospital Bed, Oxygen, Ventilator, Life saving drugs, Oximeter, Ambulances, are on sale to the highest bidder !!! The impending third wave, will definitely bring forth unimaginable tragedies, ever witnessed since our independence !!!!

The best thing to do to avoid confusion is to remove the gold ornaments from the patient at home before admitting them to hospital.

This is very common that all valuable items are pilfered by the hospital personnel before handing over the corpse; in fact, even in serious accident cases, all valuables are pilfered before the victim is admitted to hospital; it's very common in Mumbai with victims of railway accidents! The situation will get worse as we get further into the economic tailspin! Today everything required for Covid19 is sold in black by creating artificial scarcity with no one to bust these rackets! If corporate hospitals charge 50k-1L per day, making bills of even 25L & ultimately handing over a corpse! Most hospitals have become extortion Mafia, take money only in cash; that too on a daily basis, then what's the big issue if a ward boy or nurse flicks earrings? Latest, they have come to know that maximum amount of deaths in hospital settings are caused by lack of experienced, expert, & dedicated care due to many patients from various parts getting the deadly Mucormycosis infection due to mismanagement in using drugs like steroids & infected dehumidified oxygen because of non sterlization of equipment, use of ordinary water in dehumidifiers by people other than trained personnel! As the infection rates swell up, there will be an acute shortage of trained personnel leading to more casualties! Oxygen pumped at high pressure leads to hyperoxia ROS which can have serious implications! All in all, pumping oxygen is just only one of the requirements; if not supported by correct drug, which varies from patient to patient & maintaining clean supply of oxygen the situation is bound to worsen! Latest is antifungal medications are getting scarce! The above is a very personal opinion based on facts studied by me; please do your own research and take your own decisions!

Rudolf Rodrigues Mumbai, what you say is 100percent correct.Today health centres/hospitals are become more a way to hell than health.I always say now ,before you go to a doctor ,first study medicine and visit doctor .Now with Corona all people concerned in this business try to get the maximum atleast in India I feel. One way or other ,patients family want a good care for the patient and try to give it even have to pay more. And missing earrings or other pocket, money ,or credit cards are here too by admitted patients incresed..All of a sudden your mobile goes missing when you come back from toilets.Best is when a patient goes to clinic dont ear costly ornaments ,need not show your wealth to others in hospital. Many times some fake sisters or male Nurses come in and check and disappear later. How many times small children disappear ,.They come in as nurses ,want to check child ,and on their way disappear.Complaining later doesnt bring much results unless a cctv camera is placed somewhere.

Rita, Germany; now even ambulance owners, firewood suppliers, & crematorium operators have started charging exorbitant rates to dispose dead bodies, which even upper middle class people cannot afford! Situation is so bad that most common people after finishing their savings have sold their gold or even mortgaged their homes to treat their dear ones; such is the state of affairs! Only some divine intervention can save us!

Subhash Chandra, Mangalore, It's not about joke. You said ""a person who has gone through covid knows the sufferings of it"" It should not be like that. If you're kind hearted, to understand the sufferings of others, you personally do not need to go through sufferings" Sufferings of any kind. How many people suffered since 2014 just because of foolish policies of the present government? Can't we see around and understand. Farmers still sitting there, who are called deshdrohis/terrorists. Do you have to be rocket scientist to understand their pain? What blind bhakths will do? do they understand other's pain?? Is there anybody honestly say that they are benefitted since 2014?? Unless they are in top brass BJP< RSS, BD, they can't say they benefitted. The other people who can say that they are benefitted is Hamare Do.. do I need to explain?? Supporting a political party or a candidate for all it's/his/her good doing is different than supporting because I am blind is different. BTW, I am not telling you're one of those blinds, don't mistake me.

Selling Remdesvir which normally costs 1400 Rupees at 35,000 Rs Selling ICU bed which should be free at 100,000 Rs Selling Oxygen cylinders for 5000 Rupees Charging 25,000 Rs for ambulance service for a distance of 10 km What all does this shows? That an average Indian is corrupt and the moment he gets an opportunity he will show his true colour. An immoral community gets punishment not forgiveness.
