India Get Past France in Squash


Quito (Ecuador), Aug 7 (IANS): India overcame France 2-1 after losing the opening singles in the playoff for 5-8 positions at the World Junior boys squash championship here.

France went 1-0 up after their top seed Lucas Serme defeated Aditya Jagtap in straight games Friday. Ramit Tandon however pulled it back for India also with a straight games victory against Damien Volland.

In the decider, Ravi Dixit, after winning the first game comfortably, had a lapse in concentration in the second which he lost but managed to regain his focus and win his match convincingly in the fourth game against Arthur Moineau.

India next plays New Zealand for 5-6 positions.
