Mangaluru: St Aloysius Gonzaga School bids farewell to class 10 students

Mangaluru, Apr 8: Farewell – ‘Jyothi Pradhan ceremony’ for Class X 2020-21 batch of St Aloysius Gonzaga School was held on Thursday April 8 in the Gonzaga Hall.

The chief guest of the ceremony, Fr Melwin Pinto SJ, rector, St Aloysius Institutions, in his speech advised the students to discover their hidden talents, work hard to nurture it and follow the inner voice of the heart to reach the pinnacle of success. The values learnt in this school should boost their confidence to serve the society and nation, he said.

Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ, principal of the school said that the school has an aim of the all round development of students, mould them as men and women for and with others. Face the challenges of life with confidence and bring glory to the Alma Mater, he said.

Teacher Vijayalaxmi highlighted the significance of light. The dignitaries lighted the lamp and handed over diyas to students. Aryan Shrivastav and Carol Mikhail Furtado of class X shared their fond memories in the school. Class teachers of class X Laurel Dsouza and Sandhya Manoj expressed their views and wished them well for their future. Finance officer Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ blessed the students in the presence of parents and teachers. Deepa Karkada welcomed the gathering, vote of thanks was delivered by Preethan Pereira and the programme was compered by the vice principal Jacintha D’Costa.

    Dear Polinami, Bajpe, The article is dated 08 April, but in the first para, says "Thursday January 8 in the Gonzaga Hall" Probably that's why none are wearing masks.

    Having been an ex student of St. Aloysius, I join Father Melwyn and my other Jesuit Friends in bidding farewell to the outgoing students. Having had their initial grounding at St. Aloysius they should do well wherever they go.

    This farewell procession, at St. Aloysius gave me goosebumps... i vivdly recall the glorious, carefree days of joy, which i cherish, in my alma mater, St Michael's High School in Mumbai !!! Wish all these students, every success, as they put their best feet forward in life !!!
