Beltangady: Sacred Heart College Madanthyar holds annual sports meet 2020-21

Beltangady, Mar 17: The annual athletic meet of Sacred Heart College Madanthyar was held on Tuesday March 16 at the 4x100 meter college ground.

Annamma Varkey, former national athlete, an alumna of the college was the inaugurator and Rajshekar Shetty working president of Beltangaday taluk Amateur Kabaddi Association, and also an alumnus of the college was the chief guest.

The sports day commenced with offering flowers to the patron of the college, Sacred Heart of Jesus followed by a beautiful march past by the students to the beats of a band. All the classes actively participated. The members of the student council along with the NCC guards led the march past followed by a flag hoisting by the chief guest.

Rajshekar Shetty, in his address spoke to the students about the importance of sports and how it helps to develop courage and strength to face challenges by driving in his own experiences.

Annamma Varkey shared her experience of sports and encouraged the students to participate in extracurricular activities.

Fr Basil Vas, in his presidential remark, congratulated the entire college for organizing such a wonderful sports meet.

Former sportsperson of the college, Hakim, parish council vice-president Leo Rodrigues were also present on the dais.

The college football team and cricket team were felicitated for winning prizes.

Principal Dr Joseph N M welcomed the gathering, Physical Education director Prakash D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks. Nelson Monis anchored the programme.

The stage programme was followed by the various sports events.
