Mar 14: DK records 40 corona cases, recoveries outnumber new ones in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Mar 14: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday March 14 recorded 40 new cases of novel coronavirus, while Udupi district reported 12 fresh cases.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 5,95,469 samples have been tested so far, out of which 5,60,721 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district stands at 34,748, out of which only 259 are currently active.

As many as 31 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 33,748.

The total number of deaths due to coronavirus in the district is 741.

The district administration has urged people to continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 3,84,567 samples have been tested so far, out of which 3,60,737 have turned out to be negative.

Twelve new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 23,830, out of which only 71 are currently active.

As many as 19 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 23,569.

Out of 12 new patients, 10 are in home isolation while two are in COVID hospital.

Among the 12, as many as 7 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 6 of the 12 cases, Kundapur recorded two and Karkala four.

The district has reported 190 deaths due to coronavirus so far.
