Udupi, Mar 4: If the third war in the world is to be named, it is a water problem. India is the second-largest country in the world in water abundance.

But the tragedy is we are facing the water shortage problem as there is no proper use and conservation. We should conserve and re-use the rainwater properly to prevent this shortage,” said Joseph G Rebello who gave a detailed presentation on water conservation and refuelling of water in a programme held at St Mary's College, Shirva.

The principal, Dr Herald Ivan Monis who presided over the event said that everyone should take advantage of the programme on rainwater harvesting.

Jacintha D'Souza, president of the college's Parent-Teachers' Association appreciated the initiative taken by the college.

The programme was jointly organized by NCC, NSS, Rovers and Rangers, Youth Red Cross units in collaboration with the college's Parent-Teacher Association and the Green Teacher Forum.

Yashoda, Vittal Nayak, Lieutenant K Praveen Kumar, Premanath and Murali and members of the various cells and associations were present in the programme.

The programme was witnessed by the teaching and non-teaching faculties as well as students of different streams.

Sristi welcomed the gathering, Deepthi proposed the vote of thanks and Yashoda, coordinator of Green Teacher Forum introduced the chief guest and resource person to the gathering.
