Sports hostel for girls to come up in Mangaluru - Minister KC Narayana Gowda

Mangaluru, Feb 26: Minister of state for youth empowerment and sports KC Narayana Gowda on Friday, February 26 said that the state government has approved the construction of the full-fledged sports hostel for girls at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore near Mangala Stadium.

Speaking to the media persons at a private hotel here, Narayana Gowda said, "If required the state government will also sanction additional grants. The hostel is to support the girls to motivate them to take part in sports. The upcoming hostel can accommodate 60 girls. To support sports the government will send the proposal to the union government to release funds under the 'Khelo India programme'."

The minister further stated that the department is ready to provide any facility to athletes to prepare them for national and international sports competitions.

"Sports will be supported under the Prime Minister's Khelo India programme," he added.

He also said that the sports department will make a sincere effort to provide government jobs for achievers in sports.

High-Tech fish park

Under the Coastal Development Authority, the department has planned to set up a High-Tech fish park in the city. The park will facilitate cold storage facility processing and packing of fish products. The fish park would come up near the Fisheries College.

"The officials have been directed to complete the pending works by the end of March. In the district, Rs 26 crore of the funds of MLAs and MPs are pending. The officials have directed to utilise the pending funds and complete pending works."

    What a fantastic idea of Mr.narayana gowda, that the sport hostel for girls. Is it need of mangaluru? During these time of Corona, there is lots of urgent work might required. But this guy finds the sport hostel, need of the day.

    Sir ,Sports hostel for women is fine ..But there is a desperate need of a full fledged cricket ground. Please provide seating arrangements in the urwa ground ..lay a synthetic track with a cricket pitch which is suitable for under arm cricket.
