Mangaluru, Feb 26: Two woman advocates, Sparsha M D'Souza, Chethana from Dakshian Kannada district, have been chosen as civil judges after clearing the examination held recently for recruitment as judges. The two happen to be one among the 31 judges who have been newly selected by the high court.

Mangaluru-based woman advocate, Sparsha, has graduated in BSc (PCM) from St Agnes College, Mangaluru, and thereafter pursued her studies in law from SDM Law College, Mangaluru. She has been practicing as a junior advocate presently under Vivekananda Paniyala and has also worked under A Dinesh Bhandary, Mangaluru, since five years.

She is the daughter of Jacintha D'Souza and late Donald D'Souza, from Pandeshwar, Mangaluru, belonging to Rosario Cathedral Parish, diocese of Mangaluru.

Chethana (29) is the second of four children of Ramanna Poojary and Seetha couple from Narya village near Dharmasthala. She studied from first to sixth standard at government Kannada school, Perne, and then completed seventh standard at the government school, Kanyady. She pursued secondary education at Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara secondary school, Dharmasthala, before getting PU education at government first grade college, Beltangady.

She secured degree in law through SDM Law College Mangaluru in 2016. She began her legal career in the office of advocate Keshav P Belal, Beltangady. She then worked for three years as the law clerk research assistant for Karnataka high court judge, Justice B A Patil. Since the last one year, she has been working as a junior advocate of the high court, in the office of advocate Shivaprasad Shantanagoudar.

She has cleared the civil judge examination conducted by Karnataka high court for the year 2020. The fact that she has passed the examination was made known through a notification issued on February 25.

Chethana deserves appreciation for this achievement, after being born in a backward village to a poor family.
