Mangaluru: Minister S Angara lays foundation for ultra-modern aquaculture unit worth Rs 7.9 cr

Mangaluru, Feb 23: Minister of fisheries, ports and inland transport, S Angara on Tuesday, February 23 laid the foundation stone for the ultra-modern aquaculture units worth Rs 7.9 crore near Fisheries college here. 

The minister also inaugurated the replica of the fishing boat and laid the foundation stone for the construction of Matsya Darshini canteen on the premises of the College of Fisheries here on Tuesday, February 23.

Speaking on the occasion S Angara said, "Today, we have laid the foundation stone for the ultra-modern aquaculture units worth Rs 7.9 crore. The project will facilitate the fishing industry. The project will help to materialise several programmes. Secondly, we have inaugurated the replica of a boat after repairing an old boat, for the visitors to view the boat."

"I have visited the spot to examine the problems. When one visits the place of the problem the reality comes to light. I had visited Malpe port and the old Mangaluru port. I will focus to resolve any kind of problems that are being faced by the fisheries and port department. In old Mangaluru port, I witnessed nearly seven to eight problems, it will immediately be resolved, after holding the meeting with officials of fisheries, port, and revenue departments," Angara said.

"On the matter concerning the dredging in the old port, Angara said that without using the government funds, the problem can be solved easily but there should be a provision in the law. Hence, holding a meeting with the port, fisheries and department of mines and geology in Bengaluru will be necessary. Once the issues are solved, it will reduce the burden on the government," the minister said.
