Udupi: Orientation programme organized for first year students of SMVITM Bantakal

Udupi, Feb 9: Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management, Bantakal organized an orientation programme for the newly admitted BE students at the institute premises on Sunday February 7.

The major objective of the programme was to make the parents and students aware of the academic aspects of the BE course, to make them aware of the rules and regulations of the institute and ensure parental participation in monitoring the performance of the students, hence contributing to the overall growth of the student.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting a lamp by the chief guest, Dr Venkata Ramana Akkaraju, chairman of New Mangalore Port Trust, Mangaluru and guest of honor Dr Sushma Akkaraju, who has served in many reputed organizations like TCS, IBM as well as in a reputed Engineering College at Kaladi, Cochin.



Dr Venkata Ramana Akkaraju in his address showcased the reality of employable graduates passing out every year across the country. He also urged the students to decide what they want to become in life now itself and act upon that. He advised them to be deterministic to realize their dreams. While concluding his inaugural address, he wished they be successful in their life and urged them to return to their roots to serve the society in the best possible way.

Dr Sushma Akkaraju, guest of honor for the day advised the students some key tips to become successful in life.

Principal Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, principal of SMVITM welcomed the gathering and highlighted the major accomplishments of the institution in both academics and extra-curricular fields.

Student welfare officer, Dr C K Manjunath briefed about the academic guidelines and also enlightened the students about the various facilities available at SMVITM for their all-round development. He also requested them to make the best use of it. Second-year student, Aniketh and a few parents shared their experience on the occasion.

The chief guest honored the top three CET toppers, Krishnaraj Karanth, Aditya M Acharya and Shreyas R who joined SMVITM this academic year.

Rathnakumar, secretary of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, expressed his gratitude to the parents and students for having faith and confidence in the institution and assured that the college and the management are bound to give the best education to the students.

Shri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Sode Shri Vadiraja Matha presided over the function. In his presidential address, he said that the value of a person is not just measured by his qualification, rather measured by his character. He wished the students of SMVITM to come out as great citizens blended with qualification and character.

P Srinivas Tantry, vice-president of SSVMET, Udupi, Dr. Ganesh Aithal, vice-principal of SMVITM were also present on the dais. Rajashankar from NMPT, well-wishers of SMVITM, Venkatesh Rao and Ravindra, deans, HoDs and staff members were present during the event.

Usha H, assistant professor of the department of Physics introduced Dr Venkata Ramana Akkaraju and Bhagyalaxmi Navada, assistant professor of the department of Mathematics introduced Dr Sushma Akkaraju to the gathering. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Reena Kumari, head of the department of Chemistry. The programme started with an invocation by Manjunath S and the programme was compered by faculty members of the institution Sudhir and Savitha Shenoy.
