Mangaluru: IEEE Srinivas University holds inaugural function for new academic year

Mangaluru, Feb 3: Inauguration of the activities of the IEEE Srinivas University Student Branch for the year 2021 was organized on January 30, 2021. It was organized online using CISCO Webex. Dr D H Rao former dean (Academic), VTU Belagavi was the chief guest and inaugurator. Dr P S Aithal, the honourable vice-chancellor Srinivas University presided over the function. Prof P Shridhara Acharya, Dean, CCIS, Srinivas University, Mangaluru and faculty advisor, IEEE SUSB,Dr A Jayanthiladevi , professor, CCIS and director, Industry Relations & International Research Collaborations, Srinivas University, Mangaluru and branch advisor, IEEE SU SB, and Dr Nethravathi P S, professor CCIS, Srinivas University an Branch Advisor IEEE SUSB were the guests of honour.

In the inaugural address Dr D H Rao said, “IEEE is an excellent platform for the researchers. Researchers should cultivate the habit of reading and dedicate much time to enhance their knowledge. A bit of sacrifice is very much essential for a good researcher. Every member of the IEEE organization should work in such a way that the mission and vision statements of the IEEE are upheld.”

In his presidential remarks Dr P S Aithal said, “All the members of the IEEE Student branch should be proud to say that they are the members of an international body that is the voice for technological advancement these days. Every researcher should show their creativity and innovation which are helpful to create new knowledge.”

After the formal function an activity-based talk on “How creative you are?” was organized. Dr D H Rao Former Dean (Academic), VTU Belagavi was the resource person. “Creativity is the ability to look at the same thing as everyone else but think something different. Illiterate of 21st century is not the one who cannot read and write but the one who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn. Every individual has substantial amount of creativity. The researcher must go on expanding the circumference of his knowledge. Self-motivation is very much essential for every individual” he said. With the help of different activities, he demonstrated how and why people think differently.

Dr Krishna Prasad K, associate professor & director College Research Council, CCIS, Srinivas University, Mangaluru and counsellor, IEEE SU SB welcomed the guests and the participants and gave a brief introduction of IEEE SUSB Executive Committee and the activities organized in 2020. Dr Nethravathi P S, the faculty advisor IEEE SU SB introduced the guest, Vinayachandra, Chair, IEEE SU SB presented the list of activities which are planned by the IEEE SU SB for the year 2021. Rajeshwari M, Chair Programme Committee, IEEE SU SB rendered the prayer song and Vijayaraj, Vice-Chair IEEE SU SB proposed a vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Geetha Poornima, secretary, IEEE SUSB. The programme was attended by 70 participants including professors of Srinivas University, IEEE SU SB members, research scholars of Srinivas University.
