Mangaluru: Republic Day, Investiture Ceremony organised at The Yenepoya School and PU College


 On the occasion of the 72nd Republic Day on January 26, The Yenepoya School and PU College conducted a solemn investiture ceremony for the newly elected members of the student council, in order to keep with the tradition of the school and college having a student council, over the years. But this year, due to the pandemic, the student council members will be elected only once they start their physical classes. However, they held a small investiture ceremony, ensuring all the COVID-19 safety protocols were followed.

The programme began with a prayer by the school choir, followed by a welcome speech by Anil D’Sa, the campus coordinator. The chief-guest Geetha Saldanha, was introduced by Liya Khadeeja Haider. Thereafter, the flag hoisting ceremony took place in the presence of the chief-guest and the other dignitaries including the principal, Joseph Mechirath and the campus director, Mishria Javeed, along with the teaching and non-teaching faculty members, parents of the cabinet members and the students of II PUC and grade 10. After the flag hoisting ceremony, 'The Importance of the Day' was read by Amna Javed.



The formal investiture ceremony began with the reading of the 'Importance of the Investiture Ceremony' by Hiba Mariyam, after which the newly elected cabinet members were introduced by Fathima Shaida of grade 10 and Mohammed Nabil of II PUC. The cabinet members were then honoured with badges and sashes and took their oath which was led by the newly elected college president, Muhammed Kaif Yenepoya. The newly elected cabinet members are – Muhammed Kaif Yenepoya, president (of II PUC Commerce); Ayesha Haifa, vice-president (of II PUC Science); secretary, Mariyam Shaiba Nazil (of II PUC Commerce); joint secretary, Monisha K (II PUC Science) and from the school section, Amna Javed, head girl (grade X); Sayyed Aakif Hussain, head boy (grade X); assistant head girl, Shwetha S (grade IX); assistant head boy, Mahad Sheikh (grade IX).

Furthermore, the college president, the head girl and the head boy presented speeches, after which the keynote address was delivered by the chief-guest, Geetha Saldanha, followed by the principal and the campus director’s address to the gathering.

The programme culminated with the vote of thanks by Muhammed Hussain Shahil Shahish and singing of the National Anthem. The programme was compered by Sarah Xavier of grade X.
