The NCC unit of St Aloysius Pre-University College, here, organised a webinar on 'Indian Armed Forces : A Way of Life'. The resource person was Col Nitteguthu Sharath Bhandary, a valiant soldier who served in J&K border, NEFA, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Indo-Pak Punjab border. He was part of the Indo-Pak war in 1965 in Dera Baba Nanak sector in Punjab. Currently, he is the -president of the All Karnataka Rubber Plantation Association and also the president of Mangaluru University College alumni association.
Col Bhandary shared his personal experience in the army with the participants. He also provided them with fresh insights on career opportunities in the armed forces. He explained to the students, the benefits of joining the army and the steps to take to get enrolled. He also shared some inspiring incidents in his eventful career. The colonel encouraged the youth, especially the girls, to join the armed forces.
He enumerated the perks and facilities given by the army to the officers serving in the forces and also to its former servicemen. Col Bhandary offered some tips on how to tackle UPSC, CDS exams which are the keys to enter into the OTA, IMA, NDA, INA, IAF academies. The interactive webinar helped the students to get an insight into how armed forces serve our country.
